Psystar prepares for the clone wars

The company has filed for bankruptcy to protect itself against creditors. Psystar, a company that builds mac-clones has enlisted a new legal team to defend their case against Apple. The former legal firm was asking for $88,000 in due fees, amount that Psystar is unable to pay.

Psystar disagrees. Psystar builds Mac OS compatible computers with off-the-shelf PC components.

Apple claims that the license of OS X (osx manual, pdf) forbids users to run it on non-Apple hardware. To make this work, the company has written Mac OS extensions to support non-Apple hardware.

Would be cool to see a stylus that comes in the form of some triad weapon though. The DS has taken a similar route as the Game Boy of yore – it has a whole bunch of different editions to entice ordinary folk to part with their hard earned cash no matter how many DS’ one already owns. Expect to see one of these pop up on eBay pretty soon at an inflated price. This time round, to commemorate the release of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for the DS, Nintendo gave away a special edition GTA: Chinatown Wars DS Lite that will certainly give serious collectors goosebumps.
