Sony’s Vaio Mini W netbook can be pretty hard to clone because of its chiclet keyboard as well as high resolution display found in the original, but that has not stopped the AVIA N101 netbook to be released with a Sony-like logo on the outside. There is no word on battery capacity nor price, but we’re pretty sure it will never amount to what Sony is charging for their Vaio Mini W. The specifications aren’t too far from Sony’s netbook though, running on an Intel Atom 1.

5 pounds while measuring under 0. Apart from that, Sony touts to offer an “all day and into the night” battery, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, directly placing it in the Nokia Booklet 3G’s path where specifications are concerned. This 11. 1″ machine comes in a black carbon fiber chassis, tipping the scales at a mere 1. Image courtesy of Crunchgear. There is no word on pricing or availability anywhere in the world just yet, making us wonder whether Nokia will beat Sony out by unleashing their Booklet 3G onto this niche market first.

Looks like there will be a new Windows 7-powered Vaio P in the near future, where it has been designated as Vaio P ‘mark 2′ which will make an appearance this autumn.

Famous last words – at least that’s what Sony has to own up to after reiterating that the netbook race is one that goes to the bottom, and they’ll do their level best not to enter such a market. Well, talk is cheap since they’ve finally succumbed into the pressure, revealing the first true netbook under the Vaio W Series.
