CES 2009 saw the announcement of what was actually the thinnest Blu-ray player in the market from Samsung, but we guess it finally took at least a couple of months before those announcements were made reality – as in arriving on store shelves at a good electronics store near you. 99 a pop. 99, respectively, the super slim BD-P4600 that everyone and their grandmother are looking forward to will only be able to bring one home when April rolls around, retailing for up to $499. Image courtesy of Engadget. Hmmm, that actually makes a PS3 a whole lot more tempting, never mind the fact that it lags badly behind in the current gen console sales. [Press Release]

While both the BD-P3600 and BD-P1600 are already readily available, retailing for $399. 99 and $299.

This piece analyses some of the best known business accounting software options available. Even in a small-sized business, there tends to be a lot of toil to keep up to date with sales, taxes, wages and profits. With so many complex areas of running a business many companies are utilising, business accounting software in order to make their basic activities run without a hitch.

With a income of 166 million GBP over the year of 2008, it seems the company is doing very well. SAGE is one more piece of business accounting software that has become a well known name among people in many firms.

This UK-based developer began life in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Later versions sought to address this issue. It has been especially popular among the smaller business owners – as it does not ne ed any sort of training to be used. Created by Tony Scott and Tom Proulx in the state of California in 1983, the name has swollen to become of the most utilised examples of business software. This ease of use was not an aspect that accountants always appreciated however (at least in early versions) as it did not comply with accountancy conventions. Quickbooks is perhaps one of the most recognisable brands in business accounting software – primarily focussed on accountancy issues.

It’s variety of software products cover point of sale (POS), inventories, accounts and supplies. Gestix is another business making software for business management requirements.

The firm has large HQs in both Switzerland and Portugal. Beginning life in 1986 it has over two decades of experience. Its options are available in 3 versions – Gestix Light, Classic and the most expensive and comprehensive Business version.

The software purports to focus on creating stronge r customer relationships along with giving company owners a wide ranging view of their firm’s activities.

By supplying a great deal of support in terms of financial and customer management, Microsoft has established itself as one of the largest providers of business accounting software options in the world. One more well known range of business accounting software and management software that a lot of people will be aware of is Microsoft’s Small Business Management package. As a long established brand, many business users choose this name.

And with more than 14 thousand employees around the globe, the firm has swollen a great deal since its low key beginnings in the year 1981. The firmhas made several acquisitions over recent years, among them Logic Control of Spain, KHK of Germany, Sybe l of France, and a great deal of other firms management software firms besides.

There are of course a lot of business accounting software solutions for firm’s top dogs to choose from, and it is definitely worth weighing up the various options when thinking about buying a package.

Issues of price and reliability are all problems worth thinking about and there are a great deal of forums that are dedicated to pin pointing the ideal kind of software for your firm.

By selecting a – lesser known software package, you may get a better price – although it is worth considering that the large names in this sector are such for a good reason, and will probably have a high level of technical support to hand crucial when learning a new piece of software.

We think CBHD will remain an internal format for the country of its origin – what about you? Both TCL and Shinco have released their new players based on the CBHD format on an official basis, and should it actually catch on in the world’s most populous country, movie studios might be lured into supporting this format to further increase their coffers. TCL thinks that the CBHD format will not compete with the Blu-ray format since they look towards different market niches, with price being the main factor. Blu-ray might still be smirking over its moral victory against HD DVD, but they might have a much larger problem on their hands – China Blue High-Definition, or CBHD in short. CBHD players cost less than $300 as they are not aggravated by high patent royalties unlike Blu-ray.

The former also comes with a remote, allowing you to sit back and relax while you enjoy your favorite digital movie after a long hard day of work. No idea on pricing though. It seems as though Onda, one of the more prolific ones in that part of the world has released a couple of portable media players from the Onda VX series which support a wide range of video codecs (including high definition formats) – namely the7″ VX797HD and the smaller 3″ VX555HD. Just like how TV sets have all taken up the High Definition mantle, so do portable media player manufacturers, especially those who hail from China. Other features include an integrated FM tuner, TV out and up to 8GB of internal memory.

This service update will be free, complementing existing support for Picasa photos, YouTube videos and the other services already available on the Blu-ray players. This gives the viewer another entertainment option after a long, hard day at work, where streaming purchases and rentals straight from the reader without the need for storage can be brought right into the middle of tour living room. At least you won’t need to have a matching Panasonic TV, as long as you have a relatively fast connection and an HDTV. If you happen to own a Panasonic Viera Cast Blu-ray player, then you’ll be happy to know that the Japanese consumer electronics giant has given the green light to offer support for Amazon’s Video On Demand service on that particular range.

Guess the PS3 can’t position itself as the cheapest Blu-ray player in the market anymore when this happens, eh? Despite having cheap players around, it takes two to tango – which means the prices of Blu-ray discs themselves ought to be lowered so that Blu-ray will really take off to replace DVDs as the de facto standard for home entertainment. Folks who have been holding out on a new Blu-ray player can finally get their hands on a sub-$100 model when Christmas rolls around, since that is when the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) will allow both technology and licensing to become available to manufacturers in China, which means we will most definitely see super affordable $99 Blu-ray players flooding the market in due time.
