And even cooler, with an SMS message that stops a Software Agent from sending heartbeats, one can block the network connection with System Defense. System Defense can block the specific protocol or port at a remote SMS command from the road. Forgot a VoiceOverIP application connected?

In the future, technologies like AMT will be spread enough and eas y to use enough for us to have such a straightforward interface. We will see semantic parsers that will let us text our machines “block all connections apart from port 31426, update the antivirus and then shutdown”. I believe this simplicity and this availability w ill come.

ASK QUESTIONS! Asking questions almost always gave me the answer I was looking for. Don’t try reinventing the wheel. Know what you’re doing before you start doing. I wasted so much time trying to figure things out for myself. Here’s some quick advice on working faster: Understand the basic concepts. Read the documentation in the SDK. There are also plenty of samples that implement the same features that you’re trying to implement. This is the best advice I can giv e. Know where you’re going before you start going. I’m joking again. While 4 weeks may seem like a short time, keep in mind that I don’t eat or sleep (I work 24 hours a day). The Intel Software Partner Program allows you to create a Project Plan based on the use cases and features you’d like to implement. Uh, just ask questions. . . Sig n up for ISPP. Use the forums and blogs to ask questions ab out the things that you don’t understand. Take advantage of your resources. That’s 4 weeks * 7 days * 24 hours = 672 hours! Developing for Intel AMT isn’t easy. But developing a management console really does take time. Check out my first and second blog posts for a good introduction to Intel AMT.
