Security of your data is also ensured with data encryption built in the HD-PXU2 series.

Samsung’s latest S series of external hard drives will receive a couple of “Pop” colors today with Sweet Pink and Ocean Blue joining the fray that previously consisted of Piano Black, Snow White, Wine Red, and Chocolate Brown. There is no word on pricing, but the Pop edition will be available globally at the end of this month. In addition, Samsung will also roll out a brand new 160GB 1. Other features found in Samsung’s external hard drives include SecretZone, SafetyKey, an auto backup, a capacity gauge, and sleep mode. These new colors aim to shift more units, as Samsung are betting that new colors will result in more sales probably after looking at Nintendo’s strategy with their line of handheld consoles in the past.
All you need to do is make sure your computer has an extra USB port and you’re good to go. Are external displays the next big thing for desktop computers or notebooks? While folks who spend plenty of time tied to a desktop might prefer to get a larger monitor outright, we think that USB LCD displays are better suited for the netbook market as those generally don’t have the screen size that makes it comfortable to work with, especially when you’re used to 19″ monitors and above. Perhaps, if not Buffalo of Japan would not have released their FTD-W71 USB LCD display.
The design itself isn’t anything to write home about, while the 800 x 480 resolution and 500:1 contrast ratio won’t impress anybody, but hey – at least it offers you more visual real estate, right?

Very, Asus says, with its SDRW-08D1S-U external slim DVD drive. This doesn’t just remain lying down beside your computer like other standard issue external optical drives, it comes with its own stand to help you save space without compromising on style.
Century has slapped a $190 price tag on it which is pretty insane considering you can get a much larger LCD monitor at that size with the benefit of spare change as well. This is an extremely young market, so expect to see prices drop while sizes increase in the near future. Not only that, this model resembles more of a tablet than a monitor, and features an LED backlit screen that hooks up to a computer via USB. Century does not want to lag behind Buffalo when it comes to external USB monitors and hence has released its 8″ monitor. Features include 250cd/m2 brightness and a 50/70 degree viewing angle. It will not go head-to-head against Buffalo’s offering for many reasons, and first among them is the size – the Century model measures just 8″ across diagonally which is smaller than Buffalo’s external USB monitor.

The hackers behind this tweak built a microcontroller that converts input from an external Targus IR keyboard into a format where the iPhone’s headphone jack understands. Hackers have managed to make an external IR keyboard play nice with an iPhone without having the need to jailbreak the device in the first place – after all, having a keyboard will come in handy if you’re one who have plenty of text messages and emails to reply wherever you go. This is made possible by using a custom connection constructed just for the headphone jack, since the latter is one of the few interfaces that is left open in the official SDK.

Finally, connect a USB drive to it and voila, you have an internet accessible USB drive. The idea behind PogoPlug is simple: Plug it on an electrical outlet, then hook it up to your wired Ethernet network.

and the web service will do the rest. The user will just have to register its drive to my. pogoplug. People don’t even need to know what TCP/IP is – cool huh? There’s no need to open and re-route ports.

Once connected to the service, the files on the drive can be accessed from any web-enabled device via a web browser or a custom application. PogoPlug has a custom API, so third party developers can build their own service and cater the needs of PogoPlug customers. pogoplug. The company mentions things like file synchronization or remote backup, but the sky is the limit.

Asus has come up with the SBC-04D1S-U external Blu-ray burner that follows the form factor of many devices these days, where slim is in. Thereis no word on pricing and availability as at press time. 8x for BD-ROM/R/RE media, 8x for DVD+R discs and 24x for the CD-R format. Burning software is provided by CyberLink, where a simple drag-and-drop interface is used for creating discs. The inclusion of disc encryption enables users to password-protect the whole disc or just part of the content. Standing vertically just like the old school PS2, it comes in a gloss black finish alongside controls for the brightness of its external blue LED.
