Sounds crazy?

Well, Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ Esprimo 7935 hopes to change all that by achieving zero consumption without pulling the plug. Fujitsu Siemens Computers hope to roll out a new computer by the middle of this year (that’s just three months or so away at worst) which will not sip a single iota of energy when turned off. Not really, as no matter how green a computer is by today’s standards, they will still act as nasty little vampires even when turned off due to losses in the transformer or sensors which remain active, awaiting input from functions including remote power-on. A typical consumption amount for PCs when off currently stand at 1 watt and 4 watts, and to hit zero, consumers ought to unplug the power cord totally.

This is one idea that is definitely worth marketing for consumers, although we’re not sure whether any company is willing to take up the load of researching it further. Just like Gambit from the X-Men, the Veos orb you see here harnesses the power of kinetic energy when tossed into the washer bin, where it will hold a load of fabric softener and a matrix of free-floating zinc/oxide nanowire plates that enables the ball to store the harvested energy, where you can then unload it back to the grid after the wash in order to help lower your monthly power bills while keeping your clothes nice and clean at the same time.

Well, it relies on a series of plates that will create a rocking motion underground whenever driven over, in turn churning those generators. The more vehicles that go over it, the more energy is generated – amounting up to 30kw each hour. Well, a supermarket in England goes further with plans to sett up a high-tech parking lot which will harness energy of cars driving on it, where this form of electricity will then be used to power the cash registers as well as lights within the store.

Supermarkets are doing their level best to go green, and most of them have already adopted a no plastic bag stance. How does it work?

8″ display which comprises of most of the front, although there is a rather large solitary speaker accompanying it.
The 30xx PMP measures 70mm x 40mm x 12mm while tipping the scales at 40 grams. It is able to handle a wide array of audio and video formats, aided by its PlayFX chipset and an integrated FM tuner. If you’re interested in picking one up, it will cost you approximately $149 a pop. Energy Sistem’s efforts will never be on par with what Apple has to offer when it comes to portable media players (PMPs), but the 30xx PMP does seem to be a pretty decent effort. It comes with a relatively tiny 1.

On these trees you will find Nanoleafs that rely on nanotechnology to capture the “sun’s energy in photovoltaic and thermovoltaic cells, then convert the radiation into electricity. This is interesting, but it does leave us wondering whether nature’s critters will be able to tell the difference between a real and fake tree in the forest – what happens when a woodpecker attempts to drill a hole through the material used? SolarBotanic is working on a new technology known as Energy Harvesting Trees. ” These will also come complete with stems and twigs that hold nano-piezovoltaic material to further produce even more electricity from movement or kinetic energy whenever rain falls or wind blows.

Its relatively high price for the time ($50. ), a spinthariscope, a cloud chamber with its own short-lived alpha source (Po-210), an electroscope, a geiger counter, a manual, a comic book (Dagwood Splits the Atom) and a government manual “Prospecting for Uranium. The set came with four types of uranium ore, a beta-alpha source (Pb-210), a pure beta source (Ru-106), a gamma source (Zn-65? Today, it is so highly prized by collectors that a complete set can go for more than 100 times the original price. “

This was the most elaborate Atomic Energy educational set ever produced, but it was only only available from 1951 to 1952.

Relive the 1950s with the Gilbert U-238 Atomic Energy Lab.

Folks who want to pick up a Geiger counter can do so separately if their budget permits. You can also opt for other Gilbert sets that come with the spinthariscope, ore and a manual.

A lot of it is actually the “logic” of energy management (figuring out which spaces need warmth/chill. . . The Empire state building is undergoing a major retrofit that should result in a 40% energy savings. ). There is a lot of things to fix – here’s the list: windows light, radiator insulation, lighting, air handlers, chiller plan, building control system, ventilation control, tenant energy management. The planned renovations will cost about $500 and everything should be finished in 2013. Old buildings can be power hogs, but it doesn’t mean that they have to stay that way.
