CES 2009 saw the announcement of what was actually the thinnest Blu-ray player in the market from Samsung, but we guess it finally took at least a couple of months before those announcements were made reality – as in arriving on store shelves at a good electronics store near you. 99 a pop. 99, respectively, the super slim BD-P4600 that everyone and their grandmother are looking forward to will only be able to bring one home when April rolls around, retailing for up to $499. Image courtesy of Engadget. Hmmm, that actually makes a PS3 a whole lot more tempting, never mind the fact that it lags badly behind in the current gen console sales. [Press Release]

While both the BD-P3600 and BD-P1600 are already readily available, retailing for $399. 99 and $299.

3 megapixel camera. While you’ll use this to tell the time (which you can do with a standard cell phone of course), we suspect most people will use it more for a communications device than anything else. No idea on how much it will cost, you but can pick it up in either stainless steel or leather versions from June 15 onwards. Watch phones are getting more and more commonplace these days, so having yet another one hit the market comes across as no surprise. Neutrano has just unveiled its latest handset – or should we say, wristset, in the form of the Nutec WristFone. Features of this GSM wristset include an SD memory card slot, handwriting recognition, audio and video playback,an integrated voice recorder, a built-in FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity and a 1.

Dolby has just announced its release of Dolby Axon, a 3D voice communication platform that will make an appearance in a couple of online games that are currently in the works. These two titles are Jumpgate Evolution and Mission Against Terror, where the former is a MMORPG while the other is a FPS by NetDevil and Kingsoft, respectively. Dolby Axon hopes to increase the level of immersion in a game by enabling players to enter into an even more realistic aural world while they’re performing their in-game tasks, but we think visuals will always have a higher priority among gamers compared to audio.

What do you think – will Doly Axon catch on in the near future, or is it a dud?

It is currently the undisputable thinnest gaming-grade mousing surface, specially designed to perform at the highest precision levels (and best used with Razer mice, although they won’t let you in that you can also play with Microsoft and Logitech offerings) regardless of whether you’re going optical or laser. Using high-grade durable material, the Razer Sphex can be wiped clean or washed repeatedly without having its mousing surface compromised. Razer is no stranger when it comes to the world of gaming peripherals, and today they are off the blocks with yet another feather to add to their burgeoning cap – the Razer Sphex. What makes this special is its claim to fame – by being the first gaming grade desktop skin in an ultra thin form factor. You can pick up this 320mm x 230mm pad for $15, although we’re wondering how this measures up against the classic 3M mousing surface.
