Whatever the outcome, we look forward to what Apple has to offer in addition to their rivals who seem to have a pretty hard time catching up.

Apple certainly isn’t resting on their laurels as they are currently looking into various ways to maintain and perhaps even extend their lead against rivals, as evident by this new filing which shows a future version of the iPhone complete with a front-facing video camera and software interface that can adjust itself for more a precise interaction whenever the user is carrying the phone while in motion. Guess the iPhone sometime down the road will finally be able to make video calls, something other 3G-enabled handsets have been able to do for years already, but what’s most interesting is the adaptive software interface concept. Should the concept materialize, we could be looking at a quantum leap of a user’s accuracy in making touch selections as the size of user interface elements on the display will be increased whenever the iPhone figures out the user is participating in some sort of motion-based activity.

Sonic’s latest CineVision Adaptive HD is a codec that was specially developed codec that will target streaming HD video content to Internet-connected devices specifically. Apart from that, the system is able to take advantage of multi-CPU encoding platforms for content distribution. This technology will merge both the CineVision HD encoding process alongside Widevine’s adaptive streaming system, and is touted to be able to churn out Blu-ray discs at resolutions up to 1080p. Concurrently, scalable streaming for buffer-free broadband playback will happen.
