eBay sells 65% of Skype for about $2B

Posted by: software on: 05 Apr, 2009

Upon the completion of the sale (in late 2009), eBay will receive $1.

9B in cash. eBay will still own 35% of the company after the transaction. eBay has announced that it has sold the majority of its shares in Skype to an investor group.

Users should not see a difference in the day to day operations aseBay simply wanted to focus on things like auctions and Paypal, where Skype has little to no synergy.
